Stroud’s Judicial Dictionary
Since around 1995 I have been responsible for editing Stroud’s Judicial Dictionary, now well into its second century. With the aid of annual cumulative supplements we try to keep Stroud as up-to-date as possible, including new legislative and judicial definitions of expressions of all kinds.
Jowitt’s Dictionary of English Law
In 2007 I persuaded Sweet & Maxwell to mount an exercise designed to revive Jowitt’s Dictionary of English Law, a much-loved and highly respected work that was rapidly slipping into regretted obsolescence after a lapse of about 30 years. We assembled a panel of specialist contributing editors that included academics, practitioners and judges, and together we spent two years producing the third edition, which seems to have been well-received.
