Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards

  /  Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards

In October 2022 I was appointed as Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards (PCS) in the House of Commons from 2023 to 2028.

The role of PCS is established by House of Commons Standing Order 150.  My task is to oversee and implement the Code of Conduct for Members of the House of Commons, and to oversee the Independent Complaints and Grievance Scheme in so far as it affects MPs.  I advise the House on Standards matters, including issuing advice notes relating to the Code.  My plan for the five years includes outreach and engagement on positive aspects of the standards system, exploring how the Nolan Principles of Public Life enhance the service and performance of MPs across the House.
